Preventing COVID19 and swine flu, controlling tuberculosis, stopping sick building syndrome and deodorising and sanitising. Stay safe against COVID19.
These are some of the benefits of the Airzone range provided by Biozone Manufacturing (Pty) Ltd.
Over the past few months, you have been bombarded – sometimes unwillingly – with information about the Coronavirus, otherwise known as COVID19. Fortunately, it appears that most of the confirmed cases in the world are milder than predicted. But now that we have shed some of our hypersensitivity concerning this virus outbreak, health officials are turning their gaze to the new season, and to the possibility of a more severe COVID19 strain returning.
Prevention is on everybody’s mind, including ours.
In fact, we’ve learned that our Airzone air purifier models can help reduce your risk of contracting and spreading COVID19. Here’s the lowdown:
- COVID19, like the common seasonal flu, spreads from person to person primarily through tiny airborne droplets released when an infected person coughs or sneezes. If you inhale these droplets when you are near someone with the virus, there is a high risk that you can contract it as well.
- According to the U.S. Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), air cleaners, specifically those designed for infection control, can help clean the air of these contaminated droplets and also other common germs, allergens and air particles.
Air purifiers for infection control often include one or more of these components:
- High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter,
- Antimicrobial protection,
- Ultraviolet germicidal light, and
Let’s look at the Airzone solutions:
The Airzone Giai and Airzone Hepa adopt the HEPA filter system, antimicrobial protection through ionisation and ozone generator. (These are desktop or wall-mounted units highly suited for offices or homes.) The ozone feature is on a timer or switch and can be operated if preferred when there are no occupants in the room or office.
The ceiling-mounted Airzone Helios range utilises ultraviolet ( UV) and titanium dioxide technologies (photocatalytic) and is also suited to occupied areas such as offices or rooms and reception areas, hospital wards etc.
The Airzone Pathogo and OdoGo range are portable units utilising ozone technology and are suitable primarily for deodorising or disinfection of unoccupied areas such as hotel rooms, hospital wards, factories after fire or flood damage, etc.
The Airzone OdoFree range comprises ozone generators suited for semi-occupied areas such as washrooms, toilets, passages, garbage or refuse areas and drains as well as mortuaries. They provide small amounts of ozone continuously, 24 hours a day at safe levels to maintain US Environmental Protection Agency recommended safe levels and are therefore safe to run in the home or office environment and maintain pure air in the working or home environment.
The Airzone Hermes units are specifically utilised in airconditioning ducting systems where sick building syndrome is prevalent and to prevent mould or bacteria build up on the air conditioning vents or ducts.
All Airzone units are often used for microbiological control in hospitals, research areas and pharmaceutical labs. The Airzone UV units are used in tuberculosis isolation rooms as well as in containment rooms that house patients affected by COVID19, MRSA, avian flu, and SARS.
Air purifiers are well-known for their ability to clear out allergens, odours, dust and bacteria with multi-stage filtration. But what consumers may not know is that the HEPA filters used in the Airzone Giai feature an anti-flu coating and antimicrobial protection. This coating is composed of a special anti-influenza agent that has been proven to lower the viral infectivity of certain airborne flu viruses – particularly the COVID19 and H3N2 virus, a strain similar to avian flu. No studies have been conducted to determine whether the coating is effective against the COVID19 strain. However, when combined with antimicrobial protection, it may lessen your susceptibility to viruses.
Follow the CDC’s Guidelines
As medical experts continue working to develop an effective COVID19 vaccine, it is most important to follow the COVID19 prevention guidelines recommended by the CDC and the World Health Organisation. These are very similar to the processes to protect yourself from the common flu. They include:
- Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue away.
- Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
- Do not touch areas are highly vulnerable to germs.
- Avoid contact with sick people.
- Stay home if you are sick. It is safe to leave home after you have been symptom-free for 24 hours.
Disclaimer: It’s important to note that by using the products mentioned in this article, it doesn’t guarantee that you will not be infected by COVID19. They are merely suggestions for precautionary and preventative measures you can take, in addition to the CDC’s prevention measures, so that it may help to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.
